Bible Study on WORDS

April 19th, 2009 by Suzie Potter received No Comments »

singing-wordsMatthew 5:18 “. . . the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart. . .”

Think about the power of this verse.  What is coming out of your mouth is a good check on what is going on inside you . . . more specifically in your heart, the core of things.

Job was a man who had many bad things happen to him.  He lost most of his worldly possessions over time, including his entire family.  Those closest to him wanted him to “curse God and die”.  But Job couldn’t do that.  He chose to use his words to praise God in every circumstance.  We can learn a lot from Job this week.

Job 33:3          My words come from an upright heart; my lips sincerely speak what I know.

(Job knows where his words come from and believes it – do you?)

Job 4:4          “Your words have supported those who stumbled; you have strengthened faltering knees.”

(Job knows how important the words of support are – even making weak knees strong)

Job 19:2         “How long will you torment me and crush me with words?

(Job is responding to the words of torment – words can be devastating)

Job 21:2          “Listen carefully to my words; let this be the consolation you give me.

(Job knew how important consolation or strong comfort is, and the power of it)

Job 32:11          “I waited while you spoke, I listened to your reasoning; while you were searching for words,”

(Job knew that it was even worth waiting for – the right words from others)

Job 32:18          “For I am full of words, and the spirit within me compels me;”

(Our words can come from God’s spirit to people – and we be full of God’s words)

Job 36:4          “Be assured that my words are not false;one perfect in knowledge is with you.”

(Job knew God was in him, the one who has perfect knowledge, helping)

May this be our prayer:

Psa. 19:14          “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heartbe pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
