Big Adventure: I am a Princess – a child of the highest King ~ by Lisa Bruder from Germany 2009

Day 8: God is our King

READ: Psalm 47. We want to read about God, as our King now. Notice how David describes God, how he calls Him and how excited he is about His God. What picture of God does this psalm give you? What characteristics come out of it? What is the job of a King?

SPEAK: After you read this psalm tell God about what you think of Him. Tell your LORD most high everything. He is the King – give Him all the praise. Ask Him about the questions you have and what you don’t understand. Remember, he loves and knows you anyways.

LISTEN: Now let the King speak to you. Stand in His presence, in His throne room and let Him show you who He is. Write down what you hear.

WRITE: Write down, what part of this verse you like the most. Write down how you actually see God and what picture you have of Him and His character. Do you see Him as the King? Is He the King – the ruler – of your life? Or are there areas in your life that you don’t want Him to rule over? And things YOU like to have the control. Bring it all to God and surrender it all.

Day 9: God is the Alpha and the Omega

READ: Isaiah 44, 6-8. While you’re reading think about God being the first and the last. Have you ever felt like the first or the last? And think about if there is anyone else like God. Is there anything in your life that is like a little God for you? Does God come first for you?

SPEAK: Now take time to pray to God – to speak to Him. Tell Him your fears and thoughts. These verses tell you not to be afraid. Cause God’s always with you. What are the things you are still afraid of? Where do you still tremble?

LISTEN: Again, stop talking or thinking now and try to listen to God and to His answer. He wants you to know that He is with you – you are safe in Him. Feel His presence.

WRITE: Write down in what ways God is Israel’s King and redeemer. The verse says, “apart from me, there is no other God”. Write down where in your life you may still have other “Gods”, that are more important than God. Maybe those are things that you’ve put before God. Ask Him for forgiveness and bring those things before Him.

Day 10: The character of God

READ: Jeremiah 10: 1-16. Notice how God is described in this passage – powerful. Notice also God as our creator again. What are the descriptions you agree and don’t agree with?

SPEAK: Speak to the King again today. Talk to Him during your day too, when you lay down or when you work, walk, or think. Come to the King of Kings. Think about Gods power and might in your life and thank Him for that. Thank Him for those times where He has shown His character an might in your life. You can always pour out your heart to Him.
LISTEN: Now let Jesus show you His power and His presence. Let Him speak to you. Come to the feet of the King and seek Him. He is worthy and holy.

WRITE: Write down, where you have seen Gods power in your life? Write down where you’ve seen the King’s might in the lives around you or in the world! Write a letter to God thanking Him for His might and blessings on your life.

Day 11: Seeing the King

READ: Revelation 19: 11-16. Read it out loud and imagine you see this by yourself. Think about standing in awe of the true king one day and seeing this with your own eyes. Isn’t that wonderful. One day, you will stand before the King and see Him face to face. Are you excited about that?

SPEAK: Tell God how you feel about this strong picture. Tell Him your thoughts and fears. Ask Him questions. Give Him your prayer requests. Tell Him about people in your life. The King is there to listen to you.

LISTEN: Let Him answer you now. Try to listen to Him and let Him show you his glory and majesty.

WRITE: Write about God as the King of majesty. Is this how you imagine God – riding on a horse? Write some adjectives about God’s character that fit to this picture in Revelations. Also write down how you feel about seeing God one day. Are you ready for your King to come? We don’t know when this is going to be, but we should be ready!

Day 12: Jesus is the King of the Jews

READ: Mark 15: 1-26. We now want to look at Jesus – the King of the Jews today. Imagine you would be in His position. What would you do if they asked you this question: “Are you the King of the Jews?” Imagine being one of the people in the crowd. What would you do? What would you do, if you would be Pilate?

LISTEN: After reading this passage, take time to just meditate on it. Think about it and let God show you what it means, let Him reveal himself to you now. Listen to God, the King of the Jews. He loves to spend this time with you.

WRITE: Write down what God is telling you. Write down your feelings, your thoughts and sorrows. Is Jesus your King? Also write down, what happened in the last 24 hours in your life. What did you learn, or experience?

SPEAK: Now take this time and rest in His peace. Tell Him everything you want. Bring your prayer requests before Him. Have a conversation with God, your King.

Day 13: Crucifixion

READ: Mark 15, 27-47. As you read this passage, always have in mind, that Jesus did all this for YOU, because you are his beloved daughter! Try to picture this situation! How would you feel, if you would be Jesus’ friend or mother? Can you imagine the pain he suffered?

SPEAK: Thank God for this offering. Jesus was crucified, humiliated and tortured and He did it all for you, so you can be saved, forgiven, and have eternal life. He died, so you can become his beloved child. Thank Jesus again for dying on the cross for you. Speak to your savior.

LISTEN: Listen to the King now. He wants to pour out His love over you. Write down what you hear.

WRITE: Try to remember when you have first received, that Jesus died for you. Think about how excited you were about it. Are you still excited about your savior? Are you still receiving his grace and forgiveness daily? Write it down. Write down what the cross means for you. This cross, where you can be healed, restored, saved, loved and forgiven.

Day 14: John 3:16-21

READ: John 3:16-21. Remind yourself again today, what Jesus did for you. You will have eternal life if you believe in Him. Think about light and darkness. What does it do? And where do you see yourself and people around you living their lives in?

SPEAK: Tell Jesus about whatever is on your heart right now. Talk to Him about the areas you struggle in. Ask Him for forgiveness of your sins. The bible says in 1.John 1,9: “If you confess your sins, He will be faithful and just, to forgive you your sins and purify you from all unrighteousness.” That’s His promise for you. Tell Him about your sins – things, that you maybe try to hide in the darkness, so it doesn’t come into the light.

LISTEN: Be close to Jesus right now. Receive his forgiveness, love, peace and life now. His arms are wide open for you to come and be close to Him. Listen to what he wants to tell you. He wants to make your heart pure again.

WRITE: Write about the areas in your life, where you are maybe still living in the darkness. Write down, where Jesus has set you free in the past and lead you into light. Also write down where you can be a light in the lives of others and help them come into the light. Write about your feelings, experiences, and thoughts.

Day 15: Living according to God’s spirit

READ: Romans 8:9-16. Read this passage and ask yourself if you are living your life like this. Christ has set you free, so you can now live according to His word and His Spirit. What does it mean to live according to His spirit?

SPEAK: Now speak to God about it and look again at the verses 14-16, where it says really clearly, that you are Gods child. Thank Him for that. Talk to Him about your life and about your relationship to Him. Tell Him about your fears, and struggles, where you are still living according to the sinful nature. Ask His spirit to fill you and guide you in life.

LISTEN: Listen to your Father now. Come to His throne and receive his spirit. Be lead by the Spirit. He wants to hold you in His arms, like a little lamb (Isaiah 40,11). Open your heart now and receive what He has for you.

WRITE: Write down, were you are still living according to the sinful nature and also where you see Gods spirit moving in your life. Write down how you feel in the arms of your heavenly father. Do you feel like a child of God? – snug and secure? Also write about your experiences in the last 24 hours and the things you don’t want to forget.
